Megan came to us in April 2010. She was in an
appalling state having been virtually abandoned by
her owner who could not afford to keep her. Our vet,
Julian, said she was the worst case of equine
cruelty he had ever seen. Megan had lost so
much weight she was skeletal and had very little
energy. We literally believe she was days from
death.
Although we knew Megan was pregnant and that she
would need a lot of care an attention, we agreed to
take her in and give her and her foal a second
chance of a happy and healthy life.
Megan really captured the
hearts of many of our customers. We were very
grateful to
Phixx hairdressers in Chatham which had t-shirts
printed highlighting Megan's plight and collected over £500.
The donations went towards veterinary care and the
purchase of high energy foods.
There were some very worrying moments with
Megan in the early weeks but she has put on a little
weight. In June 2010, just a couple of months after
taking Megan in, she gave birth to her beautiful
filly. We named her 'Hope' as the word seemed to sum
up the only thing Megan came to us with.
Megan and Hope are both very
healthy and living a happy life at Willow
Farm. A huge thank you to everybody who has
supported our rescue work - you really do save the
lives of horses like Megan.
